On September 14, according to The Information citing sources familiar with the matter, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google have previously engaged in discussions about collaborating to establish an AI industry standards body. This discussion predates Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's call on Saturday for AI companies to coordinate in conducting technical testing and audits. Additionally, another source familiar with the matter revealed that OpenAI founder Altman stated earlier this week during a company-wide meeting that he supports the establishment of an AI industry testing and audit body, but believes that large AI labs should establish it themselves rather than relying on support from the U.S. government.
