On September 13, foreign media reported that during an interview at the Irish Open golf tournament, former US President Trump seemed to disregard the appeals made by several prominent figures in the AI sector to decelerate the advancement of AI models. Trump asserted, “The United States stands as the most technologically advanced nation globally and is keen on preserving this edge. The nation that leads in AI will dominate in all aspects.” Just a day prior, three influential leaders in the AI industry—Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic; Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI; and Elon Musk, founder of xAI—had all voiced their support for a more measured approach to enhancing AI model capabilities. In reaction, Trump remarked, “There are numerous detrimental forces advocating for this that shouldn't even be given a platform. They're conjuring up scenarios that are purely hypothetical and won't materialize.”
