A consortium of French investors, prominently featuring the French investment firm Pyratz, has made a strategic investment of roughly €10 million in Moonshot AI, a company poised for an imminent listing. This investment was facilitated through Techmind Moonshot AI, a dedicated investment vehicle created and overseen by Techmind. The investment was made at a pre-money valuation of $30 billion, with Pyratz contributing approximately €100,000 to the cause. Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 model boasts performance metrics that rival those of leading U.S. counterparts, while its API pricing strategy is notably more competitive, coming in at just around one-thirtieth of the cost of Western leading models. Moreover, as an open-weight model, Moonshot AI enjoys a particular appeal among European buyers.

Pyratz adopts an investment approach akin to that of U.S. investment firms, leveraging its own balance sheet to invest in technology ventures with a long-term perspective. This latest investment is geared towards bolstering Moonshot AI's efforts to deploy its solutions in France. Furthermore, there are plans to synergize Moonshot AI's open-weight model with the fully homomorphic encryption technology of Zama, a company within Pyratz's investment portfolio.

Moonshot AI has its sights set on a listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as early as the first quarter of 2027 and is also exploring the possibility of a dual listing on the STAR Market. The company generates approximately 70% of its revenue from enterprise API usage, with the remaining portion stemming from paid consumer subscriptions. When juxtaposed with Mistral, a French domestic company that has pivoted towards cloud service providers, Pyratz maintains that Moonshot AI's model offers superior performance and sees potential for the two entities to complement each other.
