Originally slated for October 30, the event faced sharp criticism for allegedly transforming rigorous pure mathematics research into promotional material for commercial AI companies and for generating a significant volume of unverified academic content. This sparked a strong backlash from leading figures in academia. As a result, co-sponsor Anthropic also came under public scrutiny and pressure.
