The UAE is quietly revising its plans for a massive 5-gigawatt AI data center project, one of the largest outside the United States. Influenced by the situation in Iran, the UAE is reconsidering how and where to build critical infrastructure. Originally planned as a single, large data center park covering approximately 26 square kilometers in Abu Dhabi, the project may now shift to a network of multiple data centers across the country, with enhanced protective measures such as deploying air defense systems and situating some facilities underground. These adjustments have not been previously reported.
