Recently, a video of Sun Yuchen, the founder of TRON, analyzing the strategic layout of Xiaomi Group and its founder Lei Jun has ignited fervent debates. Sun Yuchen is of the opinion that Xiaomi's foray into the automotive manufacturing sector was somewhat tardy. He points out that Lei Jun's initial investment strategy bore a resemblance to Tencent's approach. However, Lei Jun subsequently opted to manufacture cars himself, driven by the soaring valuations in the automotive industry.
Sun Yuchen concedes that Xiaomi's car configurations are commendable, yet he deems the price tag of 210,000 yuan to be somewhat steep for the intended target market. In contrast, he holds a more optimistic view of Xiaomi's growth prospects in the robotics domain. He believes that the combined potential of Xiaomi's robots and large models significantly surpasses that of its automotive endeavors.
Sun Yuchen proposes that Lei Jun should prioritize capitalizing on Xiaomi's strengths in the home appliances sector to develop intelligent living service devices, such as cooking robots. By doing so, he suggests, Xiaomi can swiftly construct a consumer-grade robot ecosystem. He is convinced that the robotics industry is on the cusp of a cognitive revolution akin to the one ushered in by ChatGPT.
