One week prior, the Debian project conducted a vote and decided to permit the responsible use of generative AI tools. This move neither actively promotes nor outright bans their utilization in the development and maintenance processes. It also recognizes that when these tools are employed appropriately, they have the potential to boost the efficiency of contributors. At present, F-Droid, the free software app store tailored for Android devices, is contemplating adopting an identical AI policy. The proposed policy from F-Droid directly cites the content of Debian's policy, making only name substitutions.
