On September 4th, news emerged that an international standard proposal, led by China and entitled 'Sustainable Development of Cities and Communities—Application of Artificial Intelligence in Smart City Operation Models—Part 2: Principles and Elements', had successfully secured approval from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Presently, artificial intelligence is profoundly embedded in urban governance, emerging as a pivotal technology for boosting governance efficiency. This standard is designed to forge a systematic governance framework for AI applications within smart city operations. It elucidates core components such as the governance system, implementation pathways, collaboration mechanisms, and effectiveness evaluations, thereby tackling the issue of cities grappling with 'technology operating without established rules'.
