Tencent envisions WorkBuddy as China's pioneering agent platform, uniquely connecting these three ecosystem tiers simultaneously. During the launch event, a range of co-branded hardware products took center stage, with the first wave of collaborations predominantly centered around input devices. Officials involved noted that hardware facilitates more intuitive and frequent interactions, predicting that office agents will emerge as a vital component of digital productivity in the years ahead. The integration of IM (Instant Messaging) and AI workstations is expected to evolve gradually, prompting a transformation in the role of agents. Rather than dictating a predefined optimal form, the platform prioritizes delivering superior productivity results tailored to current needs. More than 30 industry applications have embraced the 'Buddy Apps' program, empowering developers to tap into professional capabilities through seamless Skill, Expert, and Connector integrations. By partnering with the platform, SaaS companies can focus on industry-specific scenarios, while the platform furnishes general agent functionalities. At this juncture, WorkBuddy primarily serves as a task entry point and execution layer atop existing software and business infrastructures. The platform adopts a measured approach to ecosystem expansion, with the initial cohort of partners reflecting only early engagement intentions. Commercial frameworks are still being refined, and specific pricing and allocation strategies remain under wraps. Since its March launch, WorkBuddy has undergone over 50 updates and has been adopted across more than 50 industries.
