The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) has initiated the second phase of its targeted campaign, 'Clear and Bright: Rectifying Chaos in AI Applications,' with a particular emphasis on tackling the challenges posed by the utilization of AI in generating and spreading misinformation. This initiative calls upon platforms to undertake a thorough cleanup of illegal and detrimental content, while also imposing penalties on accounts and applications that fail to comply with regulations. As of now, the campaign has successfully led to the removal of over 5.61 million pieces of illegal and non-compliant information, the penalization of more than 49,000 accounts, and the addressing of over 2,400 websites and applications that violated norms. Looking ahead, the cyberspace regulatory authorities are set to assess the effectiveness of their governance measures, stay abreast of AI development trends, monitor emerging risks, prevent the misuse of technology, and cultivate an environment conducive to innovation.
