A research report released by CICC highlights that open-source models, celebrated for their exceptional cost-efficiency and intelligence, have garnered broad acclaim from users worldwide, leading to a steady increase in their adoption. Projections indicate that revenue generated by overseas open-source models will soar to US$10 billion this year alone. Looking ahead, by 2027, open-source models are anticipated to command a significant share of the market, accounting for 50% to 70% of the total token volume globally and contributing between 12% and 30% to the overall value of the large model market.
The proliferation of open-source models not only fosters a thriving ecosystem but also drives heightened demand for cloud service providers, FDEs (Full-Stack Data Engineers, assuming contextually relevant), and application vendors. This dynamic ecosystem encompasses a diverse array of stakeholders, including computing hardware manufacturers, cloud providers, inference tuning platforms, and integrated application platforms. Technological advancements within this space are propelling commercialization efforts among these interconnected entities, further accelerating the growth and evolution of the open-source model landscape.
