With the capabilities of Chinese open-weight models—such as Kimi and DeepSeek—continuing to grow stronger, a rising number of overseas artificial intelligence (AI) companies have begun leveraging these models for post-training to develop their own models and products. The ways in which Chinese open-weight models participate in overseas AI research and development have become increasingly varied. They are not only directly employed as foundational models for further training but also utilized for generating synthetic data and offering insights into model architecture and training methodologies. Chinese models are rapidly accelerating their integration into the global AI industry chain.
