On August 31, 2026, Apple submitted legal documents to the court, accusing Chang Liu, a former engineer, of engaging in a series of illicit activities post-employment. Specifically, Apple claimed that after Liu's departure, he continued to use an Apple-issued MacBook, unlawfully downloaded and utilized Apple's confidential circuit schematics. Moreover, he allegedly instructed his colleagues to destroy evidence and employed tools at OpenAI that bore the same names as those used internally at Apple. In light of these allegations, Apple is seeking access to another of Liu's devices and urging the court to expedite the discovery process.
