On August 27, it was reported that the U.S. has resumed permitting major Japanese banks to use Anthropic's Mythos model, after previously suspending the relevant approval. Japan's Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Mizuho Financial Group, and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group had previously been approved to use the model. Mythos is primarily used for cybersecurity defense, but its capabilities have also raised concerns among regulators about cybersecurity risks in the financial system.
