On August 27, according to The Wall Street Journal, Barret Zoph, co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab, will join Google as Vice President of Research following a career change. Previously, Zoph abruptly left Thinking Machines Lab early this year due to disagreements with CEO Mira Murati and joined OpenAI to drive business related to corporate sales of AI products. Now, he is changing employers once again. A Google spokesperson said, 'We look forward to Barret's arrival and applying his expertise in reinforcement learning and post-training to the Gemini project.' It is reported that Zoph left Thinking Machines Lab in January this year, along with co-founder Luke Metz and employee Sam Schoenholz.
