On August 26, Zhipu made a significant announcement, revealing the launch and open-sourcing of its GLM-5.3 Flash lightweight flagship model. This model stands out as the inaugural native multimodal model within the GLM-5 series, boasting a staggering total of 320 billion parameters, with 18 billion of them being actively utilized. Remarkably, the model is priced at a mere one-tenth of its predecessor, GLM-5.3, and during a special limited-time promotion, it drops to an astonishing one-twentieth of the original price, positioning it as a direct competitor to DeepSeek V4 Flash. Earlier, the GLM-5.3 Flash underwent testing overseas under the pseudonym Ox-Alpha, where it shattered usage records. Notably, all the request traffic during this period was handled by domestic chips, with Huawei, Moore Threads, and Hygon emerging as potential suppliers, although Zhipu has refrained from making any official statements regarding this matter.
