The US legal AI unicorn Harvey has recently made waves by announcing the successful development of its legal-specific AI model, Harvey Tenet. This model was crafted using post-training techniques on the foundation of Moonshot AI's open-weight model, Kimi K3. This development signifies a significant milestone: China's open-weight models have now officially entered the model training frameworks of leading vertical AI companies in the US.
Previously, Harvey mainly depended on closed-source models from industry giants like OpenAI and Anthropic to deliver its legal AI services. Its impressive client roster includes over 2,400 institutions and more than 200,000 lawyers, encompassing the legal departments of numerous world-class enterprises. Public reports indicate that Harvey currently boasts a valuation of up to $11 billion, with an annualized revenue of approximately $350 million. This positions it as the highest-valued legal AI unicorn in the public eye. The company is now in the process of securing a new round of funding, aiming for a valuation around $15.5 billion.
