Today, Damo Academy introduced its cutting-edge medical imaging AI model, DAMO LiON, which functions as an 'AI Safety Officer' to support doctors in interpreting medical images. This model is particularly geared towards enhancing the detection rates of primary liver cancer and the frequently missed liver metastases. Experimental results have demonstrated that DAMO LiON's accuracy in pinpointing malignant tumors surpasses that of radiologists. Leveraging AI assistance, doctors can reduce their image interpretation time by 27%, while simultaneously boosting their sensitivity to malignant tumors by 11.5%. Moreover, junior doctors can achieve a level of image reading proficiency comparable to that of their senior counterparts with the help of this AI model.
