Amazon has revealed that its AI assistant, Alexa+, will be made available at no cost to all compatible Fire TV devices across the United States. There’s no need for a Prime membership subscription or any extra steps from users, as their devices will automatically update to incorporate this new feature. The list of supported devices is quite broad, encompassing not just various Amazon-branded devices but also smart TVs from third-party manufacturers like Hisense and Panasonic.
Alexa+ boasts sophisticated functions, including conversational search, smart home management, and AI-driven content suggestions. Users can enjoy tailored content recommendations based on themes, time periods, and other preferences, while also effortlessly managing smart home gadgets and checking footage from Ring cameras. Previously, access to Alexa+ was restricted to certain newer Fire TV models, and non-Prime members had to shell out $19.99 monthly for the service. At present, the consumer electronics sector is vigorously encouraging the integration of AI assistants, with tech giants such as Google and Roku also enhancing the AI voice assistants on their respective platforms. Televisions are evolving from mere video playback tools into all-encompassing platforms that merge content services, home automation, and intelligent interactions. Remarkably, the volume of conversations Alexa+ users engage in on Fire TV has nearly doubled when compared to users of the standard Alexa.
