A collaborative effort between scientists at Germany's Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Stanford University in the United States has yielded a groundbreaking hybrid energy system. This innovative system seamlessly combines photovoltaic power generation, solar thermal technology, and passive daytime radiative cooling technology. As a result, it can simultaneously perform cooling, power generation, and heating functions. Given its capabilities, this system is poised to make a substantial impact in energy-intensive industries, especially in artificial intelligence data centers that have massive requirements for both electricity and cooling. The pertinent research findings have been featured in the latest edition of the journal Battery Reports Physical Science.
