On August 20, the Ministry of Transport convened a dedicated press conference to unveil an innovative initiative focused on typical application scenarios of "Artificial Intelligence + Transportation". Xu Wenqiang, the Director-General of the Science and Technology Department, emphasized that transportation serves as the lifeblood of the national economy and stands as a pivotal area for artificial intelligence application. In recent years, the Ministry of Transport has expedited the profound integration of artificial intelligence and transportation, zeroing in on four key areas: infrastructure, transportation vehicles and equipment, transportation services, and industry governance. It has pinpointed 860 scenarios ripe for pioneering advancements and collaborated with multiple departments to issue implementation guidelines and action plans, thereby fully launching the innovation initiative for typical application scenarios. This initiative leverages three types of scenarios—application promotion, innovation demonstration, and overcoming key challenges—alongside two leading models that involve scenario providers and technology enterprises. Its overarching goal is to bridge the "last mile" gap in policy implementation and propel the construction of a transportation powerhouse through the power of artificial intelligence technology.
