In the past year, memory prices have witnessed a dramatic surge. Specifically, DDR5 memory prices have generally skyrocketed to over five times their levels during the same period last year, with certain models experiencing a staggering tenfold increase. Even prominent players in the AI industry have voiced concerns over these exorbitant prices. Should AI servers fully embrace high-specification DDR5 or LPDDR5X memory, not only would the supply chain struggle to keep pace with the soaring demand, but the associated costs would also spiral out of control. Consequently, a new trend has emerged: the reuse of DDR4 memory. Server manufacturers are now leveraging cutting-edge technologies to reintroduce substantial quantities of DDR4 memory, previously deemed obsolete, into AI servers.
