Stripe announced on Wednesday that it plans to acquire startup OpenRouter to expand its artificial intelligence model marketplace business, with the terms of the deal undisclosed. According to sources familiar with the matter, the acquisition price is approximately $7.5 billion, with $1.5 billion allocated to OpenRouter's founders. Notably, less than three months ago, OpenRouter had just raised $113 million at a valuation of approximately $1.3 billion.
