On August 19th, the three major U.S. stock indices concluded the trading day with collective gains. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose by 0.16%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.22%, and the S&P 500 Index advanced by 0.21%. Notably, the Nasdaq Biotechnology Index soared by 6.4%, marking its largest single-day gain in six years. Moderna's stock price skyrocketed by over 176%, while Merck & Co. saw a rise of over 12%. Among the large-cap technology stocks, most experienced upward momentum, with Tesla surging over 4%, Netflix climbing over 3%, and both Amazon and Apple increasing by over 2%. Microsoft, Meta, and Google also posted slight gains, while Nvidia experienced a slight decline of nearly 1%.

Regarding popular Chinese American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), the majority posted gains, although some declined. Li Auto and Miniso surged over 4%, Pinduoduo rose over 3%, and Tencent Music, Baidu, and XPeng Group all increased by over 2%. Bilibili, JD.com, Tiger Brokers, and NIO each rose over 1%. However, iQIYI saw a significant drop of over 8%, and Weibo fell over 1%.
