On August 19, it was reported that the 18th General Meeting of the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance convened in Beijing on August 18. Gan Xiaobin, Deputy Director-General of the Science and Technology Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), addressed the meeting, emphasizing that the Ministry is actively aligning with the decisions and strategic deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. With a focus on the manufacturing sector and an application-centric approach, the Ministry is driving the growth of the artificial intelligence industry to bolster the new-type industrialization.
Looking forward, the Ministry is poised to capitalize on transformative opportunities and push forward its agenda in four key domains:
Firstly, propelled by technological advancements, it will expedite R&D efforts in pivotal areas such as intelligent chips, while also exploring avant-garde technologies like brain-inspired intelligence.
Secondly, guided by real-world applications, it will foster a synergistic interaction among models, data, and scenarios through initiatives like the 'Model-Data Resonance' project.
Thirdly, backed by ecosystem refinement, it will uphold a standards-driven development philosophy, accelerate the creation and implementation of standards in crucial sectors, and roll out influential benchmarks.
Fourthly, ensuring robust safety governance, it will launch a pilot program for ethical reviews, refine the ethical governance framework for artificial intelligence technology, innovate safety governance tools, and establish a comprehensive, lifecycle-based safety governance mechanism.
