According to 9to5Mac, OpenAI has introduced the Computer History feature to replace the Chronicle research preview. This feature utilizes the macOS accessibility interface to record user actions within specific apps and websites, including clicks, typing, shortcut usage, and app switching, forming a searchable timeline of operations. The feature is disabled by default and requires users to actively enable it. It is only available to ChatGPT Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, with Business and Enterprise users requiring administrator authorization. The initial version does not support regions in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. OpenAI emphasizes that the feature does not take screenshots or record audio, and operation events are temporarily stored locally for no more than 48 hours. After processing, they generate memory files that are not used for training. Users can view, delete, or pause data collection at any time.
