According to Reuters, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, called on the United States to reduce restrictions on open-source artificial intelligence to better compete with China. On August 10 local time, Meta released a new open-weight model, Muse Glimmer, and stated that more such models will be introduced in the future. Muse Glimmer is relatively small in scale and can run on Macs or PCs equipped with GPUs, primarily designed for agent tasks. Zuckerberg believes that foreign AI labs currently hold an advantage in open-sourcing, and U.S. policies need to reduce resistance and should not restrict access to foreign open-source models.
