On August 13th, it was officially announced that the 2nd World Humanoid Robotics Games will commence on August 22nd at the National Speed Skating Oval, affectionately dubbed the "Ice Ribbon." This grand event is co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, China Media Group, and other collaborators.
This year's Games are poised to be the largest ever, drawing 666 teams and 2,056 robots from 16 countries spanning six continents. The total number of participating teams has witnessed a remarkable 138% increase compared to the previous year, while the number of robots has surged fourfold. The international representation is stellar, with traditional robotics powerhouses like the United States, Germany, and Japan making their presence felt. Notably, Brazil has assembled a national combined team, comprising five Robot Football World Cup champion squads.
On the domestic front, 157 enterprises, 641 teams, and 1,975 robots are set to participate. Nearly all leading companies in the field are in attendance, alongside active participation from 27 Project 985 universities, a testament to China's robust robotics ecosystem. The participating teams hail from 30 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and special administrative regions across the country, showcasing the widespread enthusiasm for robotics.
Furthermore, the number of competition events has expanded from 26 in the inaugural edition to 51, offering participants a comprehensive platform to demonstrate their cutting-edge technologies and innovations.
