OpenAI has officially released GPT-5.6-Cyber, an AI model specifically designed for advanced cybersecurity research, and expanded its Daybreak cybersecurity initiative by introducing dual-tier access levels: 'Blue Team' (Blue) and 'Red Team' (Red). The model, available through the Daybreak Red tier, focuses on exploit validation and advanced vulnerability research, successfully responding to 95% of advanced security task requests during internal testing. These tasks include exploit chain development, authentication bypass, and privilege escalation. In contrast, the general-purpose model GPT-5.6 Sol responded to only 1.5% of requests under standard protections. The Daybreak Blue tier provides access to GPT-5.6 Sol, supporting a wide range of defensive security efforts without system-level cybersecurity protection restrictions. OpenAI stated that this move aims to empower trusted defenders with cutting-edge AI capabilities to address the challenges posed by AI-driven cyberattacks.
