On the 8th, the 38th Hundred Flowers Awards for Popular Films AIGC Excellence Selection Ceremony was held in Beijing. This marks a historic moment in the 64-year legacy of the awards, as it is the first time that a dedicated AIGC film submission avenue has been opened up. The event drew a total of 2,038 entries, out of which 24 works were shortlisted. Ultimately, six works were honored with various awards under the 'Hundred Flowers AIGC Excellence Honors'. The grand 38th Hundred Flowers Awards for Popular Films ceremony is scheduled to take place at the National Speed Skating Oval on August 10, 2026. This ceremony will pay tribute to outstanding Chinese-language films released between March 1, 2024, and February 28, 2026. Moreover, this year, both the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Beijing International Film Festival have also introduced categories related to AIGC. Some judges are of the opinion that AIGC categories are poised to become a staple at future film festivals.
