A research report from CITIC Securities reveals that, in recent years, the widespread adoption of generative AI technologies and the expansion of data centers by cloud service providers have spurred a significant uptick in capital expenditures among leading U.S. tech firms, a trend that has been particularly pronounced since 2024. Consequently, the share of AI-related investments in the U.S. GDP has swiftly climbed to 10% in recent times. While AI is emerging as a major catalyst for U.S. economic expansion, it is also poised to have a short-term adverse effect on overall employment levels and reshape the job market landscape in the long run. Furthermore, the swift progression of AI has led to power and chip shortages, which, in turn, have, to a certain extent, intensified inflationary pressures across the United States.
