Barclays analysts have highlighted in a research report that the widespread deployment of humanoid robots is likely to materialize after 2035. Presently, numerous demonstrations of humanoid robots are largely confined to preset scenarios, manually controlled operations from a distance, or automation of specific tasks, rather than embodying true general autonomy. To attain general autonomy, humanoid robots must develop capabilities in perception, reasoning, and adaptive behavior. Their path to deployment may mirror that of autonomous vehicles, which have undergone over a decade of development. Consequently, analysts surmise that the large-scale economic utilization of humanoid robots is more apt to occur closer to 2035 than to 2030, with near-term deployments mainly focused on specialized, controlled industrial environments.
