According to a report from The Information, SpaceX is significantly bolstering its terrestrial computing infrastructure following the acquisition of Elon Musk's AI venture, xAI, which has been rebranded as SpaceXAI. Presently, SpaceXAI operates the Colossus data center in Tennessee, boasting hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA's cutting-edge AI GPUs. It has also forged computing power supply agreements with industry giants like Google and Anthropic. Notably, the collaboration with Google alone is projected to yield monthly revenues of around US$920 million for SpaceXAI. To further augment its computational prowess, SpaceXAI is strategizing the construction of new, expansive data centers in Texas. These facilities are anticipated to rival or even exceed the scale of their Tennessee counterparts. Moreover, SpaceX is spearheading its Space AI Computing Infrastructure Initiative and has submitted applications to deploy up to 1 million satellites equipped with orbital computing capabilities. This ambitious endeavor aims to harness space-based solar energy resources to furnish uninterrupted computational support for AI applications.
