AMD has inked a multi-billion-dollar artificial intelligence server pact with Anthropic. As per the terms of the agreement, commencing in the first half of 2027, Anthropic is set to acquire up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 chips. These cutting-edge chips will be utilized in part within Anthropic's proprietary data centers, while the remainder will be made available for lease through cloud service providers. Moreover, AMD has pledged to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, with the investment being contingent on the attainment of specific deployment milestones.
At present, the engineering teams from both companies have already been engaged in collaborative efforts for a considerable period. This strategic partnership is poised to not only bolster AMD's competitive stance against Nvidia but also furnish Anthropic with robust computing power to fuel its technological advancements.
