On Wednesday, AMD declared its entry into a strategic partnership with artificial intelligence firm Anthropic, outlining an ambitious investment plan of up to $50 billion. As per the terms of this agreement, Anthropic is set to integrate AMD's Helios rack-level solutions into its infrastructure and deploy the AMD Instinct MI450 series GPUs, boasting a combined computing power capacity of 2 gigawatts. Notably, the initial phase of this deployment, encompassing 1 gigawatt of computing power, is slated for completion within the first half of the upcoming year. It's worth mentioning that gigawatts have emerged as a standard unit for gauging the magnitude of AI data centers, reflecting the industry's growing emphasis on large-scale computational capabilities.
