On July 17, 2026, the Global AI Innovation Index Report 2026 was released at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Conference on Global AI Governance held in Shanghai. The report provides a quantitative assessment of AI innovation and development across 46 countries from five dimensions: foundational support, resources and environment, technological R&D, industry and applications, and international cooperation and exchange. It reveals the overall landscape and trends of global AI development. The report points out that AI infrastructure continues to expand, with energy supply emerging as a new variable; the focus of large-scale model industrialization has shifted, with significant heavy-asset investments by enterprises; and there is an urgent need for global AI governance, with China promoting multidimensional global governance and inclusive cooperation.
