In an interview, Shen Dou, the Executive Vice President of Baidu Group, disclosed that by the latter half of 2026, universal AI agents and industry-specific AI agents are anticipated to undergo widespread deployment, with 90% of future work seamlessly integrating intelligent components. He underscored that the forthcoming three years will constitute a pivotal period for competition within the AI sector, with comprehensive, full-stack capabilities emerging as the linchpin of this competition. To foster an environment where employees actively engage with AI, Baidu has instituted proactive incentive strategies, offering a monthly stipend of 1,000 yuan to each employee to delve into mainstream large-scale AI model products. Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2026, Baidu, for the first time, witnessed AI-generated revenue comprising over half of its total revenue, marking a 49% year-on-year surge. Baidu’s founder, Robin Li, posited that the primary metric in the AI era might hinge on the ‘number of daily active AI agents,’ which, in contrast to Token consumption, can offer a more precise reflection of the fundamental value of the platform and ecosystem.
