On July 6, Li Bojie, a former participant in Huawei’s ‘Genius Teen’ program, took to social media to voice his criticism of DeepSeek’s interview process. He described it as sluggish and cumbersome, highlighting the interviewers’ unprofessional demeanor and their baseless accusation of code plagiarism, which he found profoundly insulting. Li Bojie revealed that the interview was arranged a full half-month after he successfully completed the written test. During the second-round interview, the interviewer not only arrived late but also accused him of copying code, demanding evidence to the contrary before the interview could continue. Faced with such unprofessional conduct, Li Bojie decided to terminate the interview and bring the incident to light.
Li Bojie, who holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China, was among the inaugural cohort of Huawei’s ‘Genius Teen’ program. He currently serves as the Chief Scientist at Pine AI. Notably, DeepSeek had launched a major recruitment drive on June 25, offering 33 positions.
