On July 2, the Financial Times reported that the U.S. government is engaged in in-depth negotiations with AI companies to establish voluntary standards for the release of new models. Previously, the U.S. had intervened in the deployment of cutting-edge AI tools such as Anthropic and OpenAI. According to sources familiar with the matter, these standards could be announced as early as next week, setting benchmarks and release timelines for AI models with advanced cyber capabilities to streamline future product launches. This move aims to implement the AI executive order issued by U.S. President Trump last month while clarifying the government's approach to regulating AI technology. It is reported that the U.S. Artificial Intelligence Standards and Innovation Center and the National Security Agency will play key roles in formulating and overseeing these standards. Additionally, U.S. officials will clarify which entities can access advanced AI models, potentially laying the groundwork for a global framework.
