Recently, Sun Tianxiang, an expert in large model technology, has joined Baidu as the leader of the Basic Model Unit (BMU) and has also become a member of the Baidu Model Committee (BMC). Sun Tianxiang's academic and professional background, including his work on the development of MOSS, his proposal of the Model as a Service (MaaS) concept, and his subsequent entrepreneurial pursuits, aligns closely with Baidu's strategy for foundational models. Prior to this, Baidu had already set up the Basic Model Unit (BMU) and the Applied Model Unit (AMU), with the latter being headed by Jia Lei.
