Ford recently revealed that, over the past three years, the company has rehired around 350 seasoned senior engineers, often affectionately referred to as "graybeards," to guide younger staff members. These veteran engineers were also tasked with revising underperforming diagnostic systems and AI tools to rectify quality control shortcomings. Charles Poon, Ford's Vice President of Vehicle Hardware Engineering, remarked that the management had previously undervalued the expertise of senior engineers, and that the decision to replace them solely with AI proved to be a significant blunder.
