On Friday, Italy’s Antitrust Authority declared the commencement of an investigation into Microsoft, focusing on claims of unfair business practices linked to price hikes for its 'Microsoft 365' subscription service. The authority highlighted that Microsoft failed to sufficiently notify consumers that the 'Microsoft 365' service now encompasses access to AI-driven tools, namely Copilot and Designer. Moreover, the system automatically transitions users to a more expensive subscription tier unless they proactively choose to remain on their current plan. Additionally, the platform offers limited information, posing challenges for consumers in making well-informed choices regarding subscription renewals.
