Notion has declared that its Notion Mail email service, which was introduced in April 2025, will cease operations on September 22, 2026, after a lifecycle of roughly 17 months. This service was mainly centered around AI-driven email management. However, since users showed a preference for handling emails through Notion's Agent feature, more than half of them were able to manage their emails without even accessing their inbox. Consequently, Notion has made the decision to pivot its business focus from being an “AI-assisted email client” to an “email service directly operated by Agents”. The timeline for the shutdown is as follows: Beginning on June 25, 2026, users will have the opportunity to export data that is solely stored in Notion Mail. The service will officially terminate on September 22, 2026, and any data that has not been saved will be permanently erased. Emails that are currently in the inbox will stay in Gmail. Nevertheless, drafts and scheduled emails will not be automatically transferred. Users are required to export these items before September 21, 2026.
