On June 10 (local time), the Canadian government presented a digital security bill to the parliament. This bill proposes to prohibit children under the age of 16 from using social media, although platforms that meet specific safety criteria will be exempt. Additionally, the bill aims to set up a digital regulatory authority. This authority will be responsible for establishing safety standards for AI chatbots and mitigating their potential risks to minors. Companies that do not adhere to these regulations will be subject to fines of up to 3% of their global revenue or a maximum of CAD 10 million.
