According to The Information, sources with direct knowledge of the transaction have confirmed that NVIDIA has acquired Kumo, a U.S.-based company specializing in tailor-made AI models, in a deal valued at a minimum of $400 million (approximately RMB 2.7 billion). On June 4, the head of NVIDIA's Enterprise AI Strategy Product Partnerships hinted at the acquisition on LinkedIn, posting, "Welcome Kumo to the NVIDIA team." Although the post was subsequently removed, it initially unveiled the acquisition news. Established in 2022, Kumo has carved out a niche by offering predictive AI software solutions to enterprises. Its flagship model, KumoRFM, is specifically designed to handle business data stored in data warehouses and is adept at providing predictive insights. All three of Kumo's co-founders have transitioned to NVIDIA as of May this year. This strategic acquisition is anticipated to broaden NVIDIA's repertoire of AI models, enabling these models to be fine-tuned for optimal performance on NVIDIA's hardware and facilitating further enterprise-specific customization.
