As artificial intelligence (AI) technology advances at an unprecedented pace, certain criminals have begun exploiting AI tools to concoct false information with the aim of attracting online traffic. This malicious act not only severely disrupts the online ecosystem but also undermines social order. Today, the Shanxi cyber police have disclosed several cases involving the use of AI technology to create and propagate online rumors:

Zhao XX, an employee at a Datong-based enterprise, utilized AI to generate false texts and videos alleging a "factory explosion." These were subsequently published, causing a detrimental impact and leading to administrative penalties as per the law.

In Changzhi, a netizen surnamed Zhao employed AI to fabricate false information regarding a "major passenger bus rollover on the Changjin Expressway, resulting in 2 fatalities and 6 serious injuries." This misinformation was also published and resulted in administrative punishment under the law.

Meanwhile, in Jincheng, a netizen surnamed Zhang used AI to concoct false reports about a "sudden fire at the Taiyuan Red Lantern Stadium." The dissemination of this false information caused a negative social impact and led to the individual being administratively penalized according to the law.

Additionally, a netizen surnamed Tian in Xinzhou utilized an AI writing platform to generate a false article about a "car accident in Wutai County." This too was published and resulted in administrative punishment in accordance with the law.

The utilization of AI to create false images, texts, audio, and videos has emerged as a new trend in the propagation of online rumors. Such information is highly realistic, spreads rapidly, and is extremely misleading, often triggering social panic. The public is urged to exercise caution in discerning such information and refrain from believing or spreading rumors.
