Instead, the team has finalized its restructuring and will now operate under the leadership of Yang Zhenyuan. Launched in 2023, the ByteDance Seed initiative focuses on cutting-edge research areas including multimodal large language models (MLLM), generative media (GenMedia), AI for Science, robotics, and more. The team maintains research labs and staff presence across China, Singapore, the United States, and other global locations. The AI4S unit specifically concentrates on advancing pioneering technologies in scientific computing, with the goal of fostering transformative breakthroughs in research methodologies within the scientific community through AI-driven innovation.
