On May 29, the Financial Times reported that Amazon has shut down its internal AI usage leaderboard, 'Kirorank.' This leaderboard was originally designed to track employees' usage of AI tools, but some employees engaged in a large number of meaningless operations to boost their rankings, resulting in a sharp increase in the company's computational costs. Amazon Senior Vice President Dave Trevelyan stated that while the leaderboard was well-intentioned, the outcome was counterproductive, and he cautioned employees against using AI for the sake of using AI.
