On May 22, OpenAI updated its desktop version of the Codex application. This update introduces the new Appshots feature for the Mac version, allowing users to screenshot and send the current application window to Codex by pressing the left and right Command keys (which can be customized in settings). This feature not only transmits the screenshot but also reads the text content within the window, including parts not visible on the screen, thereby streamlining manual operations in scenarios such as debugging web pages and handling design drafts. Additionally, the goal command has transitioned from an experimental feature to a formal one, enabling users to set goals in the Codex application, IDE extensions, or CLI. Codex will continuously advance the task, allowing users to view progress, adjust direction, or pause tasks. Furthermore, the built-in browser in Codex operates faster and with greater precision in advanced annotation mode, and supports batch commenting. Business users can now share custom plugins across their teams, while Enterprise users can apply for early access to shared plugin support. The analysis panel has also been enriched with more dimensions of data, allowing Business and Enterprise users to view active users, quotas, Tokens, and other metrics, facilitating managers in assessing team usage intensity and cost distribution.
