On May 19, the inaugural "Ethical Security Guidelines for AI Applications 1.0" were officially released in Nanning, Guangxi. This pivotal document is poised to serve as a cornerstone for fostering consensus on ethical security in the AI domain between China and ASEAN, facilitating the harmonization of regulatory frameworks. The guidelines underscore the core tenets of 'inclusivity and sharing' alongside a 'people-centered approach.' In response to ASEAN nations' apprehensions regarding the safeguarding of indigenous languages and cultures, the growing digital divide, and the need for a voice in global AI governance, these guidelines furnish concrete recommendations for application development, service delivery, and user engagement. They are anticipated to offer robust technical and ethical backing for digital collaboration between China and ASEAN. Furthermore, Guangxi is expediting the establishment of the China-ASEAN AI Application Cooperation Center to pioneer distinct development trajectories.
